CANAL+ International Launches New Detective Series Sakho & Mangane

CANAL + International has launched a new eight-episode detective CANAL+ Original series named Sakho & Mangane, which will air starting March 25.

Sakho & Mangane has been produced by Keewu production and co-produced by CANAL + INTERNATIONAL. The series is created and directed by Jean-Luc Herbulot and co-directed by Hubert Ndao and Toumani Sangaré.

The new CANAL + Original detective series features duo of police- Commander Souleymane Sakho (Issaka Sawadogo) and Lieutenant Basile Mangane (Yann Gael), who are radically different from each other. Under the command of Mama Ba, Commander Sakho and Lieutenant Mangane are forced to work together to solve increasingly bizarre criminal and supernatural investigations in Dakar. The two will eventually form a special unit, secret and ready to take on the most fantastic challenges. These investigations will then lead them into the darkest secrets of a sprawling city to the point of waking up ancient demons that Sakho has been burying over the years.

Sakho & Mangane is in line with the promises of the label CANAL + ORIGINAL which are- a 100% African production with a team of three directors of the Congo, Senegal and Mali, a renowned African cast and intrigue taking place in an African capital.

With Sakho & Mangane , CANAL + INTERNATIONAL has thus encouraged the training and professionalisation of the teams involved in the production of the series with the support of the Fonds Image de la Francophonie (OIF ), the support of Vivendi Create Joy and the Agence Française Media Development (CFI).   CANAL+INTERNATIONAL reiterates its commitment to support all talent while promoting African artistic production.

In related news, rapper-director Mass Seck has accused Canal Plus of plagiarism. Citing documents in his support, Seck claims CANAL used his concept for the new channel series Sakho & Mangane which he had proposed to them under the name Division X-Dakar, reported Dakar92.com.
