iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max Users Report Problems With Charging, Selfies & Cellular Connectivity

Users are complaining Apple XS and XS Max iPhones don't start charging until unlocked

iPhone users are finding some issue while trying to charge Apple’s newly launched iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max smartphones. People from across the web are complaining that some of the latest iPhones are not charging when plugged into the mains if the screen is off when they’re connected.

It was YouTuber Unbox Therapy who performed a test where he plugged nine iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max devices to test if they charge well while asleep. He found that some of the Apple XS and XS Max iPhones didn’t start charging until after he woke up the device. In fact, one iPhone XS Max was stuck in sleep mode while plugged in and the YouTuber couldn’t take it out of its frozen state until he unplugged it.

“Responding to those people on a platform like this should bring light to it and hopefully some sort of software fix, if possible,” video blogger Lewis Hilsenteger who presents the Unbox Therapy channel on YouTube said in the video. “This is my job. I have to call this stuff out. I have to hold these companies accountable.”

Until now, a large number of iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max users have already reported charging issues and shared their experiences on Apple’s support forums. Tech experts believe that the problem might be software bug related to the phone’s USB accessory settings.  It requires iPhone users to unlock their devices in order to begin charging.

Notably, users are also complaining about the iPhone XS’s front-facing camera which applies a sort of beautification filter to selfies. They complain that selfies clicked with the front camera smooth out their skin, giving the picture a sort of plastic look.

There are also a small percentage of users who are not happy with their iPhone XS’s less reliable Wi-Fi and cellular connectivity.

Apple is yet to comment on the issue.
