Apple iPad Pro 2018 Might Feature A Display With Rounded Corners

Apple’s iPad Pro 2018 to likely share design and specs with iPhone X

While Apple hasn’t yet revealed any details about the next-gen iPad Pro 2018, a lot of rumors about iPad Pro 2018 specs, features and release date have started making rounds on the internet. The release of the iOS 12 beta has offered some clues as to what Apple’s upcoming products will look like.

It is believed Apple’s iPad Pro 2018 will be launched sporting an all-new design somewhat similar to 2017 launched iPhone X with no Home button and a nearly-edge-to-edge display

9to5Mac’s Guilherme Rambo has reportedly found a new-looking icon within the recently rolled out iOS 12 developer beta 5. The tiny glyph found in the OS is part of the battery usage UI. The icon shows an iPad with very slim bezels and no physical home button. As the glyph is pretty small, it’s pretty tough to make out if the corners of the display are rounded or not.

Fortunately, another new asset, an iPad mask used to round the corners of some UI element, teases that this years’ iPad Pro models might probably come with a display with rounded corners. It shows a demonstrative image of what Split View multitasking might look like on a tablet featuring rounded corners. Furthermore, the J3xx name indicates a 2018 iPad model number.

It is rumored that the iPhone maker will replace Touch ID with Face ID in its upcoming professional-grade iPads. This will remove the need for the Home button, thereby allowing the company to shrink the size of the device.

According to a report coming from the Japanese technology portal Macotakara, the iPad Pro 2018 models will be rolled out in two 10.5-inch and 12.9-inch screen formats with edge-to-edge screen. as per the report, the 10.5-inch iPad Pro size will be reduced to 247.5 x 178.7 x 6 mm, while the 12.9-inch iPad Pro will be trimmed to 280 x 215 x 6.4mm. The next-generation iPad Pros will also likely ditch the 3.5mm headphone jack this time.

While there’s currently no word on when the new iPad Pros will be launched, Apple’s favorite fall release is very plausible.
