Xiaomi Mi 9 Specs List To Include Qualcomm’s Next Snapdragon 8150 Chipset

Xiaomi launched its Mi 8 flagship phone in April this year. It is expected that the Chinese smartphone maker will roll out the Mi 9 smartphone during the same time next year. Although the next-gen Mi handset is still a couple of months away from release, rumors surrounding Xiaomi Mi 9 specs, features, price and release date have already started flooding the web.

If a new rumor is to be believed Mi 9 could likely be the first mainstream smartphone to be powered by Qualcomm’s next Snapdragon 8150 chipset, which is due for launch in December 2018. Notably, the Samsung Galaxy S10 is also rumored to be fueled by a Snapdragon 8150-fueled chipset. If Galaxy S10 gets a launch prior to Mi 9 then it will become the first smartphone to get the new Qualcomm chipset.

Well-known tipster and concept designer Benjamin Geskin has come up with a render of the upcoming Xiaomi flagship smartphone featuring some of the handset’s possible specifications.

Based on the render, the Mi 9 may feature a 6.4-inch AMOLED display, along with an in-display fingerprint sensor, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8150 (or Snapdragon 855) SoC paired with 6GB / 8GB RAM a 3700mAh battery, which would be topped up in no time with Quick Charge 5.0., IP rating against dust and water and wireless charging support.

The render shows that the device featuring a smaller notch, somewhere between the regular notch and the waterdrop notch, will house a selfie snapper and likely a 3D depth sensor.

In terms of camera, the Xiaomi Mi 9 is expected to sport a triple camera system with 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 as the primary sensor. Lastly, the Xiaomi Mi 9 is expected to be 5G-ready. There’s no word on the handset’s pricing yet.
