Donald Trump Wants To Stop Crazy Subsidies To Countries Like India & China
Trump claims US is a “developing nation” which needs to grow faster than any other nation
U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday said that he wants the subsidies being allotted to countries like India and China to be stopped as he wants the US, which he claims is a “developing nation”, to grow and flourish faster than any other nation in the world.
“We have some of these countries that are considered growing economies,” Trump said while addressing a fundraiser event in the Fargo city of North Dakota. “Some countries that have not matured enough yet, so we are paying them subsidies. Whole thing is crazy. Like India, like China, like others we say, ‘oh, they’re growing actually’.”
He said that countries like India and China fall under the developing nations’ category and so they are entitled to get subsidies, but this needs to stop.
“We have to pay them money,” Trump said. “This whole thing is crazy, but we’re going to stop it. We’re going to stop it. We have stopped it.”
The U.S. President said his country is also a developing nation, so, flowing of money in the form of subsidies should be stopped.
“We are a developing nation, too, OK? We are,” Trump added. “As far as I’m concerned, we are a developing nation. I want to be put down in that category because we are growing, too. We are going to grow faster than anybody.”
He went on to attack the World Trade Organization (WTO) accusing the institution of allowing China to become a great economic power. He said that he thinks the WTO is probably the worst of all.
“But a lot of people don’t know what that is, that allowed China to become this great economic power,” Trump said.
Commenting on the ongoing trade war between the US and China, the President said that while he is a big fan of Chinese President Xi Jinping, he told Jinping that everything should be fair.
“We can’t let China take $500 billion a year out of the United States and rebuild itself,” he added.
The President also said that the wealthy countries across the world should pay the US for safeguarding them from the outside harm.
