« Dossier Center »: Why Mikhail Khodorkovsky Is Going After Putin
And how he's planning to hurt the master of the Kremlin
« Dossier Center ». That’s the sweet name of revenge for former Russian tycoon Mikhail Khodorkovsky, once the richest man of Russia until his much mediatic fall in 2005. After 8 years in jail, for what many observers see as a politically motivated judiciary campaign organized by the Master of the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin, Mikhail Khodorkovsky is going after Russia’s President with his new project, aiming at exposing the President’s closest advisors.
The objectives of Khodorkovsky are clear: the former oligarch wants to expose “dirty secrets” from Putin’s entourage, in what many see as a modern-style revival of “Wikileaks”. In an interview released last week, the former business mogul acknowledged that his new project was behind the recent investigations by UK newspaper The Guardian with regards to former Kremlin chief of staff’s Alexander Voloshin investment in an American energy firm. More recently, in an exclusive piece by the Associated Press, the organization led by Mr Khodorkovsky gave information to the news agency with regards to close ties between the Russian administration and Natalia Veselnitskaya, a Russian lawyer best known for having met Donald Trump’s son during the 2016 presidential campaign. According to some Russia specialists, Khodorkovsky’s « Dossier Center » is far from being a one man show.
“Some level of external support is given to Khodorkovsky”, sources reveal to TCO
Although the oligarch claims that his organization is gathering data from anonymous sources through drop boxes, sources tell “Chief Observer” that Mr Khodorkovsky has built a strong network of opponents to Mr Putin, including prominent former members of the Russian Intelligence service, FSB, who were put on the sidelines by Mr Putin. According to those same sources, Mikhail Khodorkovsky might as well have “some level” of support from western companies that were hit hard by US sanctions against the Kremlin. Those companies are seeking to weaken Putin’s grip on Russia in order to favor the rise of a new political elite that could help them make business in the country again.
