Honor, the smartphone brand belonging to the Huawei Group, has launched its latest flagship handset, Honor 10 Lite, in South Africa. The Honor 10 Lite is equipped with powerful hardware.
“We as the Honor brand regard the South African market as a key pillar to building on our global success, and we envisage that once South African consumers see what Honor can do for their lives, we will most definitely be a force to be reckoned with in this competitive market,” said Raymond Liu, CEO Honor South Africa, reported ITNews Africa.
In terms of specs, the Honor 10 Lite features a 6.21-inch 2,340 x 1,080 screen, which is placed in a bezel-less design, a “dewdrop” notch that houses camera, and a dual rear camera array featuring a 13MP f/1.8 snapper with phase detection autofocus and a 2MP depth sensor. The handset is powered by the eight-, core Kirin 710 chipset one of the most powerful chipsets in the market, and features a four-sided curved 3D design that gives it more rounded corners and a greater overall grip.
The Honor 10 Lite sports just 3GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, a headphone jack, and a rear fingerprint reader. There are other options available globally, namely a 6GB/128GB version but it won’t be brought to South Africa.
There’s a microUSB port instead of USB-C, only WiFi 802.11 n support, and a plastic rear cover instead of a glass finish. Other specifications include a long lasting 3,400mAh battery, Huawei’s EMUI 9.0 operating system (based on Android 9.0). The handset also offers AI tools including a beauty mode that allows for a variety of adjustments, such as skin smoothing, acne removal, and teeth whitening.
The Honor 10 Lite comes in four shades (Sky Blue, Shiny Red, Sapphire Blue, and Midnight Black) of gradient effects. The colors to launch in South Africa include Sky Blue and Sapphire Blue. The phone is initially only available through Vodacom’s network starting 5 April.
It currently remains unclear if other carriers will be offering the phone at a later date. For post-paid users, the device will fetch R249pm on contract.
