Huawei Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro Gets EEC Certification
Huawei Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro to feature Android 9.0 Pie out of the box
It seems Chinese smartphone maker Huawei wants to leave no stone unturned to make sure that its upcoming Huawei Mate 20 range of smartphones give a tough fight to Samsung and Apple’s new handsets, specifically in terms of specs.
According to a recent report coming from XDA Developers, the Huawei Mate 20 will boast an impressive set of specs and features. The firmware files for the Mate 20, code-named Hima, obtained by the publication suggests that the smartphone will feature the HiSilicon Kirin 980 system-on-chip, a 4,200mAh battery, wireless charging support, and a variant with 6GB RAM/128GB internal storage.
Huawei is expected to launch three Mate 20 handset variants including the base Mate 20, the Mate 20 Pro, and the Mate 20 Lite. Recently, the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro handsets acquired the EEC (Eurasian Economic Commission) certification. The Mate 20 Pro has the model number LYA-L29, and the Mate 20 bears the HMA-L29 tag. LYA stands for Laya and HMA stands for Hima.
The EEC listings confirm that the smartphone will come with Android 9.0 Pie out of the box. Unfortunately, the listing hasn’t revealed any other substantial information about the smartphones. In addition, the upcoming Huawei Y9 (2019) also received its EEC certification.
As per rumors, both Mate 20 and Mate 20 pro will come equipped with triple rear cameras. The Mate 20 and Mate 20 Lite are likely to feature a 6.3-inch LCD display whereas the Pro variant is expected to house a 6.9-inch OLED screen that could be embedded with an on-screen fingerprint reader.
While Huawei hasn’t announced anything about Huawei Mate 20 smartphones’ specs, features, price or release date, Vodafone accidentally confirmed the handset’s existence in an email to Trusted Reviews.
“The Huawei Mate 20 lite will be available soon at Vodafone UK,” the email read.
Huawei is expected to launch the new Mate line of handsets in October this year, the same month it launched the Mate 10 smartphone last year.
