Orabank Wins Best Regional Bank Award In West Africa

Orabank Bank Group won the award for Best Regional Bank in West Africa at the African Banker Awards ceremony held by IC Publications Group on Tuesday, June 11, 2019, in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, on the sidelines of the African Development Bank (AfDB) General Assemblies.

The Award aims to “pay tribute to the leaders who excel in banking and finance in Africa”. This is the third time the Orabank has got this award, after winning it in 2015 and 2017.

The Lomé (Togo) based bank has reported an exceptional growth trend in the last few years. For 2018, Oragroup has a balance sheet total of 2,171 billion CFA francs (3.7 billion dollars), up 21 percent compared to the previous year.

The customer deposits for the Orabank network for the previous year amounted to CFAF 1,462 billion, up 24 percent, and credit operations to CFAF 1,255 billion, up 16 percent. In total, the Group posted net banking income of CFAF 127 billion (USD 221 million, +17 percent) and consolidated net income up sharply by 36 percent to CFAF 29.8 billion (USD 51.9 million).

“It is a great honor for me to receive this award when I have just been appointed Managing Director of the Group,” said Ferdinand Ngon Kemoum, General Manager of Orabank Group. “All the credit goes to the teams of the group led by Mrs. Binta Toure Ndoye, whom I succeeded. They are the first artisans of this success.”

Kemoun said the responsibility now lies on his shoulders to reach the ambitious goals that the bank has set as part of the development plan for the coming years. He added that the bank team will continue to engage seamlessly in the service of the banking of individuals and businesses on the continent, whether through the implementation of innovative digital solutions or the deployment of new products.
