US President Donald Trump Hosts A Special Dinner Party For Prominent Business Leaders
15 of the country’s prominent business leaders attended Trump's dinner party
US President Donald Trump reportedly hosted a special dinner party at his private golf club in New Jersey that was attended some of the country’s prominent business leaders including Boeing’s chief executive officer Dennis Muilenburg, FedEx president and CEO Fredrick Smith and Fiat Chrysler CEO Michael Manley.
MasterCard’s chief executive Ajay Banga and PepsiCo’s outgoing CEO Indra Nooyi were in attendance as well along with their respective spouses Ritu Banga and Raj Nooyi. Donald Trump’s wife Melania Trump, daughter Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner also attended the dinner.
The official statement released by the White House stated that the President hosted the dinner party to hear from the business leaders about the how the economy is doing and what their priorities and thoughts are for the upcoming year.
According to a White House pool report, Trump addressed the power dinner saying that he is meeting with some of the top business leaders in the world.
“You talk about business, this is the group,” President Trump said. “And we’re so honored to have you. And we’re gonna be discussing later on some of the ideas you may have to, as the expression goes, make America great again.”
He said that the reigning business group had been a big beneficiary of the government’s policies. The pool report added that President Trump is hopeful that the country’s economic growth in the next quarter will reach in the fives.
“I think we’re gonna be very shortly in the fives,” the US President said. He also and stated that the GDP “can go much higher once we get new trade deals.”
Nooyi was referred to as one of the world’s most powerful women by Trump. Nooyi, 62, will step down from PepsiCo’s CEO post on October 3 this year after leading the food and beverage giant for 12 long years. PepsiCo veteran Ramon Laguarta will take over as the CEO.
