US President Donald Trump Might Meet With Chinese President Xi Jinping Next Month

If recent reports are to be believed the US President Donald Trump and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping have agreed to meet during a G-20 summit meeting next month in Argentina, in hopes of resolving the intensifying trade conflict.

According to Trump’s top economic advisor Larry Kudlow, the White House has taken some positive steps toward setting up a meeting between the two big leaders as the trade war between the world’s two largest economies is showing no signs of slowing down, The Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday.

The report claims that the Trump administration has been in contact with Beijing in recent days to plan a meeting with President Xi Jinping in Buenos Aires.

“I know it’s under discussion and has been for a while,” Kudlow said.

He added that the topics that the leaders would address in the meeting have not been finalized yet.

“They have lots to talk about. So we’ll see,” the National Economic Council director said.

Meanwhile, Mr. Donald Trump said during an interview with Fox News that China thinks Americans are stupid people, but in reality, they are not. He said that China has lived too well for too long at Americans’ expense and now the situation needs to change.

“They lived too well for too long and, frankly, I guess they think that the Americans are stupid people,” Trump said. “Americans are not stupid people.”

The US President went on to defend his tariff strategy stating that it had a huge impact on the Chinese economy. He vowed that there’s much more than he could do to hurt China’s economy further.

“It’s had a big impact,” Trump said. “Their economy has gone down very substantially and I have a lot more to do if I want to do it.”
