Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 Specs: Handset Likely Among The First Smartphones To Support 5G

Mi Mix 3 to get 5G support and a unique slider camera mechanism

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi is expected to unveil its next in line premium smartphone, dubbed Xiaomi Mi Mix 3, in October this year. Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 is expected to feature best-in-class specs and features to compete with the likes of Apple and Samsung’s top ties smartphones.

Well, the two things that make Mi Mix 3 outshine its competitor is its support for 5G networks right out-of-the-box, and its unique slider camera mechanism.

Back in August, Xiaomi president Lin Bin revealed the slider design of the upcoming Mi Mix 3 smartphone. He posted a picture of the upcoming smartphone featuring a full-screen display with no notch and chin. The picture confirmed that the front-facing camera, sensors, and speaker have found a place somewhere behind the display. As per leaked pictures and video, the phone has a manual slider on the back which will need to be slide up manually to uncover the selfie camera, speaker and other sensors.

Also, earlier this month, Xiaomi’s Director of Product Management, Donovan Sung, took to Twitter to post a real life photo of the upcoming Mi Mix 3, hinting that it’ll be 5G-ready. The photo showed the Mi Mix 3 using various bands at a test facility. Notably, the device will be among the first smartphones to support 5G.

Among other specs, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 is expected to feature a 5.99-inch Full-HD+ 18:9 display with bare minimal bezels, a Snapdragon 845 SoC coupled with Adreno 630 GPU, a fingerprint reader, a dual-lens AI rear-facing camera, a 20MP selfie shooter, a 4000 mAh battery and Qi wireless charging support.

Xiaomi is rumored to release two Mi Mix 3 variants— standard and ceramic models with 6GB or 8GB of RAM as well as 64GB, 128GB or 256GB of storage options. The smartphone is expected to launch by the end of October.
