Sony PlayStation 5 Rumored To Get A Late 2019 Release Date
Analyst Hideki Yasuda believes Sony PS5 might get introduced to the market in late 2019
Gamers are impatiently waiting for the release of Sony’s next-generation PlayStation 5 console. While Sony hasn’t announced anything about the PS5 release date, a new report claims that the launch will take place in late 2019.
Analyst Hideki Yasuda from Japanese firm Ace Economic Research Institute believes that the PlayStation 5 might get introduced to the market in late 2019. He noted that the launch comes down to whether or not the parts needed for manufacturing will be ready. PS5’s launch will depend directly on part availability mainly on the supply of multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) which is reportedly being manufactured Japanese electronics manufacturer TDK.
Well, the latest information seems to clash with remarks from the company’s executives.
“We will use the next three years to prepare the next step, to crouch down so that we can jump higher in the future,” John Kodera, Sony Interactive President, said in a press meeting in May this year.
Considering Kodera’ statement it seems unlikely that the PS5 will be a part of Sony’s current three-year plan. There are probable chances that the console might get rolled out before the fiscal year ending March 31, 2021.
There are rumors that Sony’s upcoming PlayStation 5 system will use discrete graphics and not an APU design to power its games. The gaming console is expected to use AMD’s new advanced graphics technology. It is believed that the PS5 will be backward compatible and play PS4 games alongside newly enhanced titles which are likely driven in 4K with HDR effects. Sony’s current PlayStation 4 has shipped 82.2 million units worldwide and shows no signs of slowing down.
According to Yasuda, Nintendo will sell 25 million Switch units and 140 million software units this year, significantly higher than the company’s own predictions. He noted that the company’s revenue is expected to reach 1.36 trillion yen for the year, based on an operating income of 330 billion yen.
Sony is yet to announce anything about PlayStation 5 release date, specs, or price details.
